The card game HeroQuest will soon have a new expansion….well, new to you if you weren’t a backer of the HeroQuest relaunch months ago. The crowdfunding campaign included an exclusive additional set called The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness, but it will soon be unlocked to members of the general public.
The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness contains in its box ten new quests, eight black dice, one pad of character sheets, twenty foil-embellished game cards, two cardboard tile sheets and a metallic black dragon miniature. But perhaps the most interesting thing about it is that it was written and designed by Joe Manganiello – AKA the actor who’s appeared in True Blood, Sam Raimi’s
Spider-Man films, Netflix’s Pee Wee’s Big Holiday, Sabotage, Rampage, Mythic Quest, and a voice role in Love Death and Robots. He was Deathstroke in the Justice League movie and he’s going to be “Mr. 0” aka Crocodile in the second season of Netflix’s One Piece. He’s been around — and he also makes tabletop stuff!
Keep in mind The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness is not stand-alone…some expansions are, but not HeroQuest’s. You will need either the HeroQuest Game System or HeroQuest First Light to play.
Joe Manganiello’s The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness is available for preorder starting today on Amazon . The game’s date of release in hobby shops is July 15 at an MSRP of $34.99. The game is recommended for ages 14 & up.
