Good Boy Park Bo-gum is recruited to fight and be cute

With only two weeks left until its premiere, JTBC’s action comedy Good Boy drops another teaser – this time showcasing a different side to their motley crew. With retired wrestler, now detective Heo Sung-tae (Player 2 – Master of Swindlers) coming up with a plan for a new type of violent crimes unit, he sets his eyes on other ex-athletes like himself to join his team.

First on his radar is Kim So-hyun (Serendipity’s Embrace) playing Olympic shooting gold medalist Ji Hanna. She asks if they will receive guns, and Go Man-shik (Heo Sung-tae) smiles as wide as his open arms to illustrate just how big they will be.

As he goes down the list grabbing Tae Won-seok (Player 2 – Master of Swindlers) as well as Lee Sang-yi (Spice Up Our Love), Man-shik’s easiest target is ex-boxer Yoon Dong-joo played by Park Bo-gum (When Life Gives You Tangerines). He simply tells Dong-joo that Hanna may join, and the latter chases after him, practically begging to come, too.

While not everyone may be convinced by this odd ensemble of Olympic medalists, their leader has complete faith in this group, even promising the commissioner mid-bathhouse that he will bring in results. As Dong-joo quotes Muhammad Ali (“impossible is nothing”), we see our detectives jump, cheer, fire, and fight until their accomplishments land them on the front page of the newspaper.

However, unlike your typical dramaland cops, these detectives are not moody and grimy but cute and lovely. Of course with Park Bo-gum in the cast, how could you expect anything less than adorable?

Written by Lee Dae-il (Chief of Staff, Life on Mars) with PD Shim Na-yeon (The Good Bad Mother, Beyond Evil) at the helm, JTBC’s Good Boy is slated for sixteen episodes and strikes its first punch May 31 in the Saturday-Sunday slot.
