“Go! Mrs. Go!” (aka “Saving Mrs. Go Bong Shil”) is a 2011-2012 Korean drama series, with 36 episodes, categorized as Melodrama, Comedy, and Family; streaming on Tubi TV.
SUMMARY: A middle-aged woman lived a peaceful, idyllic life in the country. Her husband was away often, but he sent her money every month to manage the household and business affairs. She had no idea their financial situation was bad. He died suddenly, and that’s when everything came to light: his debts and his mistress. He was even accused of engaging in criminal activity, however, the case was closed because of his death. Her husband left her with nothing. She was on her own and had to make a way for herself. At least her kids were already adults.
“Go! Mrs. Go!” is a story of triumph and resilience. Life handed Go Bong Sil “lemons”; she grew flowers, became a successful businesswoman, and found love again. Go Bong Sil lived peacefully in a country village of Namhae. Her husband was a successful businessman and always provided for her and the children. Her children are now adults, and they have blessed her with grandchildren. She is happy and content, and spends most of her time tending to her flower garden. All of the villagers love her because she is so kind.
But tragedy struck. Her husband suddenly passed away. The truth is that her husband was murdered, but she doesn’t know it. The people believe it was either a suicide or an accident. But murder? Who would want to kill her husband? However, shortly after his sudden death, many things started coming to light, and Go Bong Sil was shocked and clueless. It was like an avalanche. He was swimming in debt. The merchandise in his stores had to be auctioned, and the furniture in his home had to be sold. If that wasn’t bad enough, he had a mistress. That was a most painful betrayal. To learn that her happy marital relationship had been sullied.
Misfortunes like these could crush some people. But Go Bong Sil was not “some people”. She assessed her situation and then started rebuilding her life, working various jobs until she saved enough money to open a small restaurant. One day, a wealthy customer, David Kim, ate at her restaurant, and he was so impressed with her cooking that he hired to come to his home and prepare meals for him. He was an eligible bachelor, but Go Bong Sil was a widow and had no interest in pursuing a romance. At least, she didn’t plan to. But who can predict life?
My personal rating is the same as IMDb.
“Go! Mrs. Go!” is the series that made me love Kim Hae-sook. Her character was so noble and kind and hardworking and strong and humble and … nothing but good personality traits. Not a bad bone in her body!! Do perfect people like her exist in the real world?
