After a four-year hiatus, Gianna Jun is back—and she’s not easing into it.

With a powerhouse lineup of three major projects across film and television, the beloved star is proving she’s more than ready to reclaim her throne, this time with even greater versatility. From the icy tension of espionage to apocalyptic survival and heart-fluttering romance, Jun is set to showcase the full spectrum of her talent.

First on the radar is Tempest, a high-profile Disney+ spy melodrama that pairs her with Kang Dong-won in his first drama role in over two decades. The story follows a U.S. diplomat (Jun) and a mysterious special agent (Kang) as they unravel a global conspiracy. With acclaimed director Kim Hee-won (Vincenzo) and screenwriter Jung Seo-kyung (The Handmaiden, Thirst) at the helm, this thriller is generating serious buzz—and could very well be one of the most talked-about Korean dramas of the year.

Next, she makes her long-awaited return to the big screen in Gunche (LT), a new zombie feature from Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho. Marking her first film role in 11 years since Assassination, Gunche plunges into viral horror with a terrifying twist: the infected are evolving. Set in a sealed-off building, the film promises intense suspense, elevated by a strong ensemble cast including Ji Chang Wook, Koo Kyo Hwan, and Go Soo. Yeon himself calls it “the most commercial film” of his career, blending blockbuster appeal with gritty tension.

Rounding out her comeback is a fresh turn in Human X Gumiho, a fantasy romantic comedy that reunites her with Ji Chang Wook. This marks Jun’s return to rom-coms nearly a decade after Legend of the Blue Sea, and fans are thrilled to see her embrace a lighter, more playful role. Based on the myth of the nine-tailed fox, the drama promises whimsy, charm, and sizzling chemistry—something Gianna Jun has always delivered effortlessly.

Three wildly different stories. One actress ready to take them all on. Jun Ji-hyun’s return isn’t just a comeback—it’s a full-blown genre showcase, reminding audiences why she’s one of Korea’s most enduring and dynamic stars.
