Love Scout
Finally a kdrama that I’m really liking a lot. Mature characters who act like adults and feel like real people. Also, no convoluted dramatics so far. Lee Joon Hyuk looks dreamy. 😍 About time he got a lead role in a romance. Fingers crossed drama doesn’t do a nosedive at the end.
Guardians of the Dafeng
What a fun outing this turned out to be! Drama has given me lots of laughs and good times. But… I decided to take a break at ep 23 as it looked like the plot started moving towards a direction I’m not too hot about. I’m a bit hesitant to continue. I may be wrong, I just hope drama doesn’t loose all the fun going forward. Not sure if I’ll wait till it’s done or pick up from where I left off sooner.
The Blossoming Love
I’m enjoying this one too. It’s not quite the typical xianxia as there are no meddling celestials in it. My favorite character is the mischivous FL Mu Xuanling. It’s fun to see the “righteous and stiff” ML Xie Xuechen get all flustered because of her. I’m in ep 8 right now and he sure is a total goner already. This should have an ok ending but as you never know with xianxia dramas, I’m not counting my chickens yet.
Flourished Peony
Such a pretty drama. Everything looks fresh and colourful. The costuming, sets and props are great, though no idea how representative of the timeperiod they really are. I do like it but at ep 9 I’m not quite sure where it’s heading. It feels like this has all been just setup so far. Drama has 32 episodes, so plenty of time to get a move on yet.
Moonlight Mystique
This is the least interesting of all the cdramas I’m watching at the moment. It’s not particularly good but neither is it offensively bad either. It fills the gaps when I’ve watched all the available episodes of the others, ha. That said, I’m not sure how long I’m going to keep this on the roster. It can easily start boring me and then it’ll get Das Boot.
Are You the One [I wrote this quite a while ago, but never got round to writing the rest of the DGB post it would have been included in.]
I ended up liking this way more than I initially anticipated. For a long Cdrama it never got boring or made me feel like the plot was either running on empty or going round in circles. I liked the main characters a lot and even the suporting and secondary characters were very well built up. The overall story was intersting, mini arcs supportive of the main story and the slowburn romance lovely. There was a certain kind of “homey” and heartfelt feel to it all, even when things weren’t exactly going as planned. I also think the twists were quite well charted out. Some I did see coming but somehow it was quite exciting to watch it all unfold, anticipating the end result. All in all a well crafted drama with a good flow to it. It looked really nice too. I tend to love the astetics in period cdramas, even when the production doesn’t have all that much money to spend on things like props, costumes and sets. Are You the One obviously wasn’t one of those. 🙂 One thing I truly appreciated was the lack of unnecessary, over cooked dramatics.
