If you’ve been wondering if Crunchyroll will be distributing the announced movie based on Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, that was never really in question (they have the series) but it was confirmed in writing today. Crunchy’s latest PR release announces the feature film, titled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved, will be released globally through them.
The lonely dragon is Tohru, who Kobayashi saves from a perilous situation one day. Because of her act of heroism, Tohru insists she must “pay off the debt” by becoming Miss Kobayashi’s personal maid. Kobayashi herself is an average office drone who once led a normal, bland life – until this. Tohru can take on human form, but not completely — she’s still got horns and a tail — but fortunately few seem to notice. The premise has generated two seasons of comedy and now a full movie.
Things are about to get serious. though. Here’s the film synopsis:
Miss Kobayashi, Tohru, Kanna, and Iruru’s peaceful lives are shattered when Kanna’s father, Kamun Kamui, leader of the Chaos Forces, arrives and forces her to return to the Dragon World to fix a past mistake. With a war brewing between Chaos and Harmony, Kanna must find a way to unite the two worlds, but is torn between her loyalty to her friends and her father’s demands. Miss Kobayashi, however, refuses to let her go and tries to mend Kanna and Kamui’s broken bond. As dragons clash, Iruru uncovers a hidden force manipulating the war. Can they stop the war before it consumes both worlds?
Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved will be available in Japanese with English subtitles in North America. There’s no release date announced yet, but both TV seasons of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
