If you’re a fan of all things chaotic and itching for a new adventure, then you’ve probably had your eye on Revenge of the Savage Planet for a while. Developed by Raccoon Logic Studios, and the follow-up to 2021’s Journey to the Savage Planet, it’s due to be released for the general public on May 8, but you can get it early.
On May 5, Raccoon Logic Studios announced the Hoarder Edition, which allows players to dive in three days ahead of the general release and get a head start on the chaotic and oftentimes hilarious survival adventure.
And best of all, you don’t just get Revenge of the Savage Planet, but a bunch of other goodies to go alongside.
The following additional items are available exclusively to those purchasing through Steam:
Both Steam and Console players will get the following rewards as well:
Putting aside the fact that I’m obsessed with Raccoons in a slightly OTT way, and ROSP is made by Raccoon Logic Studios, and they’re giving away a free Raccoon suit if you purchase the Hoarder Edition, which I know are all deeply personal and bizarre reasons for me to suggest that you play, there are a bunch of other reasons to dive in.
Firstly, the game is brilliant. Needless to say, when you consider the above-mentioned Raccoon obsession, I dove into the Hoarder Edition immediately as it dropped, and I’ve been obsessively playing ever since. I’ve fallen in love with everything from the running animation to the aliens around the world, and my first encounter with them included accidentally kicking an adorable mushroom and then staring wide-eyed as it exploded into gatherable carbon.
And, if that slightly nonsensical introduction isn’t enough, you can play alone or with friends, so you’re not going to be alone in your horror or amusement. Or both, at the same time, if you have a twisted sense of humor like I do.
You can also play as Dave the Diver, if that floats your boat (pun intended). It makes no sense, as acknowledged by Raccoon Logic Studios itself, and possibly the crossover that nobody expected, but Dave does have a habit of showing up in games where you don’t expect him. Balatro, for instance. Anyway, you can don the Dave skin, complete with flippers, and go off on adventures around the galaxy. That part isn’t exclusive to the Hoarder Edition, but it is a wonderful perk if you’re thinking about diving in. These puns just come naturally.
Above everything else, it’s incredibly fun, satirical in all the best ways, and there’s a whole universe to get lost in. Revenge of the Savage Planet: Hoarder Edition is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC through Steam.
